This ministry has grown and we are looking forward not only providing for the physical needs of the orphans, but for their spiritual and educational needs as well. Like many other rural areas of Kenya and other developing countries, educational resources are very limited and the people thirst for knowledge. To these children, reading will be the most enriching habit because it will also help educate them, and hence this will bring the children to a vast reservoir of knowledge. Thus, we are embarking on installing a library at the orphanage for the children.
Many of the children are depressed at times and some have been traumatized by previous events in their lives. The orphanage library will be an excellent source of educational reading to supplement their education and can help lead them to overcome their past life.
Thus far, we have only been able to obtain a few educational books. There is a need for a Bible for each of the orphans as well as materials suitable for Sunday school age children.
One area where the library can be effective, not only for the students but for the general public, is educating everyone on HIV/AIDS. Kenya, along with other countries of Africa, has a high rate of this disease (estimated to be at an 8% "prevalence rate" in the adult population). At the present time, we only have a 24-page booklet on AIDS titled: Follow Jesus, Prevent AIDS. This booklet, written in the Swahili language, is checked out at the orphanage by persons interested in reading it. However, because of the lack of funds, we cannot freely distribute the booklet. Through this booklet, many people have turned to Christ and many more are eager to read it and have a copy for their own use.

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge. I will reject you from being priest for me; because you have forgotten the law of your God. I also will forget your children” (Hosea 4:6).

Our HOME

The building is finally done and some of the kids are moved in. they are enjoying their new home.

We thank God for what He has done to our children.

We are blessed to have a shaded dining area for the kids. they are very happy to have shade over their heads because of the high temperature of the sun. We thank everyone who blessed these kids with this gift.

Bedding:
The beds and mattresses that we have been praying for and we were in need of, God has provided though your support. We thank you. The kids will have a good and safe place to sleep.

Mosquito nets:
Malaria is one of the major health problems in Kenya. It is costly to be treated and because many people can not afford the medication they in many cases die. It kills many people every year (mostly children). The good news is that it can be prevented. Sleeping under insecticide-treated nets can help reduce the infection rate. We struggle to keep the children as healthy as possible, because we want them to be healthy and happy. The good news is we have the nets and are being used by the kids.

Education is the key to success in life. We help these children get at least the basic education. Most children in developed countries do not appreciate the privilege that they have by attending school. In African countries, children have the desire to go to school but lack the funding and resources that make attending school possible. The main expenses are tuition, books, and school uniforms which are required prior to admission.

Patrick Kalama Lewa is a boy aged 8 years whose Dad died in an accident. the Dad was the only bread winner in the family of 3.
They live in a small mudded, coconut thatched house. Patrick is in a Nursery but it has been very sad that he often goes to school without food.Surely Patrick needs assistance for Food, Clothing, Healthcare and school fees.

Mercyline Joseph Kazungu a girl age 6 years who lives with her grand mother. The Dad and mom left the family because of inability to support his family. She is born in a family of 4. The grandmother sells food to cater for the family but because of her aged it is very difficult her to continue providing for the family. If any one feels with us the pain that this girl is going though we will be more than happy to provide will the information to help her.

Mama's food ministry:

This special ministry is part of chafisi orphanage. It is been incharge of feeding, clothing, and health of the children. Mama Naomi has been able to feed these orphans with three meals a day but because of the struggling economy she is forced to give one meal a day through help from different people. She is determined to feed these kids with a budget of about $100 a month. This ministry is having alot of difficulties and it has been even impossible to feed these kids. Mama naomi has given all her time and energy to take care of these kids. She is know trying to keeping chicken, and other birds which will be used in the orphanage as food. We hope and pray that more people will give to the mama's food ministry.

How can someone actually get involved?
We are open to everyone who is willing to get involved with chafisi orphanage.
There are many ways to get involved
1. By volunteering at the orphanage in watamu kenya.
2. By sponsoring a child (food, clothing and school)
3. By helping financially to finish building the new orphanage.
4. by becoming part of the fund raising team.

How would a person know that the children are truly receiving the benefits?
-There will be a report which includes how the money was spent and picture of the donations being received.
- If one is sponsoring a child, a report about the child and letters from the child will be sent to the sponsor.
- Sponsor will be able to visit with the child in person if he/she requests.
